Description
This is a close up photo of the rare Barbary Lion or Atlas Lion. It is extinct in the wild and only continues in a few zoos. This magnificent beast once roamed the Atlas Mountains from Morocco to Tunisia including the Barbary Coast. The male lion average from 7 to 9 feet long and can weight up to 660 lbs. What differs this lion from other African lions is their manes. They have a very dark and long haired manes that extend over their shoulders and bellies.
